Welcome to the DIA Bioethics Community!

We are very excited to announce the launch of a DIA Community focused on Bioethics. If there is one thing this past year has shown us, it is that it is not enough to think about what we need to do but how we need to do it. How we do things and how we make decisions matters; in the case of medicine and healthcare, bioethics is a critical guide to ensuring those actions taken are as fair, just, and equitable as possible.

With this in mind, we believe DIA is the natural cross-functional, multi-stakeholder gathering place for these important conversations. We look forward to creating a community that welcomes diversity of thought, experience, and interest.

The leadership team for the Bioethics Community is comprised of:

    · Community Chair: Karla Childers (link to profile)

    · Communications: Lindsay McNair (link to profile)

    · Community Librarian: Marcin Dudek (link to profile)

Our primary objective for the first year of the community is to create opportunities to come together and have thoughtful discussions about timely topics of interest. We are planning to host monthly webinars and are excited to announce the first two (details to follow in the Events page):

    · February 24 – in collaboration with the Medical Writing Community: Ethics in Medical Writing – What Every Medical Writer Should Know

    · March 29 – Dr. Art Caplan - A host of bioethical turning points coming out of the pandemic

We hope you will join us on this journey by becoming a member of the community and look forward to hearing from you on issues and topics you’d like to see discussed. Feel free to leave us a message on our discussion board, start a thread with an ethical question or challenge you’d like to discuss, or reach out to us directly.

On behalf of the DIA Bioethics Community,

    Karla Childers

    Marcin Dudek
