Title: Use of plots to interpret oncology trial results
Summary:
In oncology studies, graphs help visualize, interpret and analyze trends of complex data to better understand the disease. Tumors are the major focus points. The Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) criteria are used to evaluate patients’ overall drug response to the therapy. The types of response a patient can have are a complete response (CR), a partial response (PR), progressive disease (PD), and stable disease (SD). The graphical presentation of the RECIST criteria elaborates the intricacies of the finer data points of the tumor responses. This presentation will discuss the different kinds of graphs like Kaplan-Meier plots, waterfall plots, swimmer plots, spider plots, bar and forest plots from the perspective of understanding different pivotal points of the tumor response data.
Bio:
Dr Mohan obtained his PhD from Mangalore University in Toxicology and has completed his post-doctoral research at the National University of Singapore. He has more than 21 years of experience in total and 15 years of Medical Writing experience from BPO, and core Pharma MNCs. At present, he is working as AGM for Medical Writing and Medical affairs, North America, TATA Consultancy Services (TCS).
His areas of expertise include toxicology, oncology, diabetes, and infectious diseases. His interests include contribution to Thought Leadership in Data Science Management and Scientific Writing.
